Safety Instructions

1. Protective gear and bike

Helmets are compulsory at all times on the bike trails, on the pump track and in the practice area. We recommend the following protective gear:

– Full-face bike helmet
Back protector / protector jacket
– Bike gloves, knee pads and suitable footwear
Neck guard (optional)

Only ride with a suitable and well-maintained bike. We recommend a suspension bike on the trails, e.g. an Enduro, Freeride or downhill bike.

2. Usage by children

We are very much looking forward to seeing lots of kids and families. Please note: For safety reasons, children under the age of 10 can only ride the Katzenkopf Leutasch bike park if accompanied by an adult. Everyone from 10 to 16 years old can ride with us without parental supervision or that of a guardian. However, please note that you must bring our consent form signed by a parent or guardian. You can download the form here. No bike park ride without this slip of paper – please remember this. We ask all parents to inform their children about appropriate protective gear and rules of conduct in the bike park. The bike school offers trial courses and other activities for children. We are happy to show you the basics here.

3. Risk assessment and insurance

Be aware that mountain biking also involves unusual risks but your behavior can minimize them. Always ride at a controlled speed and constantly keep your eyes open, as obstacles must be expected at any time (e.g. stones, branches, grazing livestock, grazing grates, obstacles, etc.). On the forest road, also watch out for tractors, logging machines or vehicles belonging to authorized people!

Adapt your speed to your riding ability as well as track and weather conditions. Wooden elements can be slippery when wet. Beginners should approach the green and blue trails in the practice area slowly. The red trail is reserved for experienced mountain bikers.

Riding in the bike park happens at your own risk. No liability is accepted for accidents or damage to property. We therefore recommend that you have personal accident insurance and private liability insurance for damage to third parties. And we recommend: Use your head, open your eyes and slow down sometimes.

4. Emergencies and emergency number

We use the rescue system of the “MTB Modell Tirol 2.0”. This means for you: On the bike trails you will find signs with the rescue service’s phone and the respective location number about every 150 – 200 m. In case of an emergency please call them, state the location number from the sign and follow the instructions. With the location number, the rescuers know exactly where you are and can get to you faster. It is therefore important to always carry your mobile phone with you!

A contribution of € 100 per rescue operation is due. This sum is reimbursed by most accident insurances, one more reason to always be well insured in the field.

5. Furthermore important

Biking requires concentration. Therefore, for your safety, there is an absolute ban on alcohol on the routes. Other substances affecting your ability to ride are also prohibited!

Rules of Conduct

1. When can the tracks be used?

At the moment we are waiting for the snow to melt, then we will finish the bike park – until the official opening all bike trails are closed! Please keep to the opening hours after the opening of the park! The trails and all facilities will be open from summer 2021 until October 31st of the same year between 10:00 – 18:00 o’clock. Respect the resting times of the wildlife and forest animals. If the route is closed due to weather damage, maintenance work or for forestry reasons, driving is absolutely prohibited! Signs in the start & finish area will inform you of this.

Dear motocross fans: Very clearly – these are bike trails! The trails may only be used on bicycles. Please adhere to this without exception and come to us on your mountain bike. Riding on the trails with motorbikes will be reported to the police.

2. Be considerate of game and grazing livestock

Be considerate of game and grazing animals. Refrain from riding off the open trails and finish your bike tour before dusk.

Close the pasture gates!

3. Protect nature

We all love the mountains, so let’s keep them clean! Any rubbish belongs only in the designated rubbish bins. Also refrain from doing anything else that could harm our beautiful nature. This also includes: No shortcuts!

4. Bleibe auf den Trails / No shortcuts

Only use the bike trails and the MTB routes for biking. The “Rappenlöcher – Steig” is NOT a bike trail. Do not criss-cross the meadows, cattle graze here and the areas are partly farmed.

If you don’t stick to these rules for the sake of the environment, at least remember: all the people you are ruining the meadows for were super kind to us bikers and agreed to the trail construction project. Your behavior determines what happens in the future with these trails.

About shortcuts / wrecking everything: Fun in the bike park – yes, of course! But please get your act together and stay on the trail. If our shape crew can’t clean up your damage, we’ll get upset. This can also mean the revocation of your lift ticket.

5. Hikers and Bikers – A Good Coexistence on the Mountain

Forest roads are used by hikers and bikers going up- and downhill, so everyone should be considerate of each other.  For bikers, this means riding slowly and at a controlled speed on forest roads and not cycling on the hiking trails. Hikers please note to use only the designated hiking trails. The bike trails are closed to hikers. It is dangerous to walk on them.

6. Be considerate of other bikers/behavior on the trail

If everyone shows a little consideration, everybody has more fun. Remember simple rules like: Overtake where it is not dangerous. Keep your distance, check out the jumps beforehand and pay special attention to children or beginners because everyone once was a beginner. Take a cool photo, you’re welcome! BUT: Don’t stop in the middle of the track – always go to the edges of the trail and out of other bikers way. Especially in places that are difficult to see after jumps or turns for example – it’s dangerous for you and others! If you fall, leave such areas as quickly as possible to reduce the risk of more people crashing into you.

7. Follow the instructions of the bike park staff and operating conditions

Follow the instructions of the bike park staff and the rules for transportation of the bike. If the rules are disregarded, the lift ticket may be revoked!

The transportation and operating terms and conditions of Bergbahn Leutasch GmbH apply.

You can find them at www.katzenkopf-leutasch.at/AGB as well as the ticket office, at the lift and in the starting area of the bike park routes.
